As previously reported we were asked to attend the JP McManus Pro-Am. With the top 12 golfers in the World arriving to team up with JP McManus to help raise funds for charity, the ForeGolf truck pulled up on the range to help get all the competitors tooled up for the event. We helped fit all 200 of the Taylor Made drivers and hybrids that the players got as part of their “goodie-bag”. There was even a special JP shaft for everyone to use and a very special putter was custom made for the man himself. We were kept busy as you can see from our photos.
The golfing stars were whisked away after The French Open to play the charity tournament, which has raised over €55m since 1990 with all the monies in their entirety going to the beneficiaries. The tournament’s success stems from the genuine interest invested in the event by all the parties including the golfers, volunteers, supporters, media, public, and the European Tour and the committee.
Paul Gallagher from The Irish Times caught up with Derek and wanted the full low down on what went on behind the scenes.
Darren Clarke won the 2010 JP McManus Pro Am at Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort. The Northern Ireland golfer carded a four-under round of 68 to finish at -3. England’s Luke Donald finished second on -2. The best amateur team was Lourdes Invalid Trust 1.
