With today’s drivers and fairway woods be careful what loft you choose.
The design of the head and where the weight is positioned will determine the ball flight more than the loft. A 10.5* in one driver design could actually go lower than another one at 8.5*.
Certain aspects of Driver head design have been limited by the R&A and USGA rules. This means distance is capped and similar across ALL driver models right now.
There are no similar rules on club-head design for Fairway Woods and Hybrids and thanks to design, you could find your 3 wood could go as far or even further than your Driver.
Don’t get caught out by believing that a particular club head design or model is more suited to a particular handicap because it’s not true. What determines how a club plays is where the weight and balance is situated.
Remember it’s about how you hit the ball and what you like the look and feel of – not handicap. It has no real or direct relevance on head design.
