Mizuno JPX Ball Review, How do you make the golf ball go further?

With today's Driver and Wood head and face technology running out of distance ideas, it looks like the future of distance will be firmly rooted in the golf ball.

Introducing Mizuno’s new Dimple Cluster Golf Ball

The golf balls dimples work similarly to a wing on an aeroplane and how the air drafts or pulls across its surface determine what the ball will do.

Improving the way the air interacts with the dimple is what the University of Osaka have been working on form the past 3 years. Under the supervision of Masashi Tamakoshi – Head of Golf Ball Development at Mizuno Golf they worked on a superior drafting process on descent.

• Slowing the descent of the ball and making it fly better is what makes this ball very special.
• 512 dimples including a number of specially placed clusters of mini dimples
• Each working to delay and slow the descent of the ball as it comes to the end of the flight.

I gave the ball a run out recently and found …

• It’s always hard to determine, if a well struck drive benefits from this distance technology ?
• The ball flew well and was equally as good as any other ball I played with.
• Responsive on Irons and Wedges but sharp and true on Putts.
• Bottom line is I think Mizuno are on to something here and this ball is well worth a try.

It seems the age old question of how do you hit the ball longer has been answered …you keep it in the air for longer.
