Contrary to belief,  SPIN isn’t entirely created by the GROOVE, whose purpose is to wick moisture and grass from the face. The GROOVE allows for better contact with the ball by the surface of the face.

Sort of like, the thread on a car tyre is used to take water away from the surface, so that more of the tyre can hit the road.

The face of the new EF Wedge is made of a Nickel Cobalt which is a much tougher metal. It will last longer as a result so these wedges will outlast pretty much every other wedge out there. Having a wedge that refuses to wear out is a real game changer, fresh grooves for longer is a big plus.

The FEEL however, is unusual as it feels harder but not in a negative way. There is more of a “click” off the face. The CONTROL of the SPING is equally as consistent and effective as other wedges.

• The darker black gunmetal finish is great at reducing glare.
• The cobalt face means the face will last longer, so more bang for your euro.
• The feel is sharp and ball reaction from the face is crisp and very controlled.
• The C Grind sole is very effective for a variety of different shots.

• Minimum bounce to loft options, compared to other wedges out there.
• Price is a little on the high side.
• “Harder” feel off the face might not appeal to everyone.
• Stock KBS shaft will not suit every style of player.
