During testing on TrackMan 4, we noticed that the spin rate was still a little too high for the way Sean wanted to hit the club. We could clearly see the launch angle was far too high to allow him to shape the ball, and deal with the links conditions in Ireland.

We moved Sean to a Taylor Made M1 but in the 430cc head shape and also dropped the loft to 8.5*. This is a fairly extreme move but Sean’s ability to hit the ball very consistently in the face, meant we could drop the loft without any repercussions.
The move to the 430cc head also allowed him to square up the club better and see the face the way he wanted, with less loft. Building the club around “the frame” of the shot is critical for category 1 players.
We teamed up the head with the Stenson special The Grafalloy Blue shaft in stiff which has a firmer tip section than his original Fubuki. It would also keeps the head very stable, to suit his transition speed through impact.
We used a stiff flex so Sean could feel the head a little more, but shortened the length a little.
We set the sliding weight to low launch to suit the wind and links and then a slight draw, as Sean hits a fraction outside of centre on the face, so the weight would line up with his strike point.
We also resized the grip to a normal width from a Midsize to allow him to release the club, knowing that the shaft tip would control the head better.
All this added time and effort spent testing and tuning the driver exactly to Sean did the job and he ran away with the win in Royal Portrush.
