5 Things to Know about the TaylorMade M1 Driver

New for 2017, the TaylorMade M1 Driver with adjustable tip has 12 different settings.

There are two heads for the TaylorMade M1 Driver

Divider 1
The M1 460cc Head (the larger of the two)
The M1 440cc Head (the smaller one).

Divider 2.
The 440cc head hits the ball lower with a lower spin than the 460.
Choose this head if you already hit the ball high or fast or both. It will control the speed and height for you, by keeping the ball low.

TOP TIP: Go up a loft, so if you are normally a 9.5* go to 10.5*, as you will need the extra loft to help launch the ball.

Divider 3.
The Adjustable Tip of the driver has a number of settings (in fact it has 12 different settings).

STD loft which is square/neutral.
HIGHER which is more closed over 3 increasing values.
LOWER which is more open over 3 increasing values.
UPRT has 3 settings of more Closed/Draw setup of the head.
A STD loft Draw, then 1 less loft value in Draw (towards Lower) and
also 1 more loft value in Draw (towards Higher).

Divider 4

The reduction of weight in the toe of the club allows for a redistribution of weight. This movement of weight makes the new M1 better balanced from off centre hits and more forgiving.

If you have an M1 from last year, you probably won’t notice a lot of difference, but if you have an SLDR or R1, this driver will be a lot better.

So if you currently play a pre-2014 Driver, you will definitely see a distance increase and better control from this head.

Divider 5.
The sliding weights work just as well as in the previous model, but the front sliding weight sometimes might not do a whole lot for the head dynamics.

If you are struggling to keep the driver straight off the tee. Try screwing out the front weight and relocating it into the back track, along with the other sliding weight.

You will then be placing all the weight towards the back and deep in the head, to help improve head stability and increasing the MOI.
