TaylorMade Golf have had more drivers than Miss Daisy and this year there is another advance on R9 with the SuperTri R9 which is a 460cc driver masked in Zorro black and with a three weight system replacing the old SuperQuad driver (but looks similar).
- From initial testing it seems very similar to the original R9 460 but has quite a high spin rate so if you need to hit it high, this driver is great.
- There is also a new Burner Superfast family of driver, fairway wood and rescue.
- The Superfast driver is 47” long which I find is great for more distance but control is an issue. The biggest problem with this driver is that it will not be custom from Taylor Made as the head is very light and will not lend itself to a normal shaft at a normal 45” length.
- A new SuperDeep driver which is due to launch in April is by all accounts the new “bomb” but until we get our hands on it we will have to wait and see.
It seems TaylorMade may be running out of road, it will be interesting to see where they are going to go once this “line” is over.
