Can custom fitting lower my handicap ? – Liam’s Story

Can custom fitting lower my handicap ? – Liam’s Story

Part of our Customer Stories series,  we’ve put together a selection of customers who came to see us, follow their story of custom fitting by ForeGolf.

Liam – Senior golfer, following a major operation, his swing changed.

Background
Liam plays off 19 but before he had his left hip replaced he had a 13 handicap.

What was wrong.
Following his operation he found he was able to load his weight into his left side. As he was now striking the ball with more power, he was struggling to control it and his handicap started to rise. He felt he should have become a better golfer after the operation but now he was going in the opposite direction.

How we fixed it
We took him out of regular steel shafts and into graphite stiff, keeping them longer than standard. This created more stability for the head, the increase allowed him to stay tall through impact for his new hip to turn. We flattened the lie to keep the head flat on the ground. Liam has great hand eye co-ordination so, we stiffened the shaft in his driver. We also opened the face and now he can turn and throw his hands at it to maximise his distance.

Improvement
We will be revisiting Liam to see how is getting on with his new Cobra Irons and Driver over the next few months.
