In the video below, Mark Murphy shows how he plays a slider flop shot with his 60* wedge and the importance of the right loft and grind on the sole to play this kind of shot. Look how quickly the ball stops and we love the little flick of the head at the end of the swing.

This video was shot on the short game area during the Irish Open two years ago in Portrush GC in Co. Antrim with Mark Murphy from Waterville, Co. Kerry. Murph is a long-time friend of Derek (but manages to get his name wrong in the first take) and had just won the Big Break Ireland only a few weeks before this, he got an invite to play in The Irish Open.

Derek wanted him to show everyone his famous “soft paws” flop shot.
