SLDR Driver: If I adjust the loft sleeve setting, does it change anything else?

A guide to adjusting the Loft Sleeve on TaylorMade SLDR Driver, how to interpret the lower and higher settings and understand what you're actually adjusting.

First of all the “loft” does not actually change, it’s pre-set when the club is manufactured.

What you change is the orientation or angle that the shaft goes into the head.

• In fact, the loft doesn’t really change and is a lot higher than the actual number on the club.
• The “Lower” and “Higher” settings do NOT change the actual loft on the club that much.

What does change (quite a lot) is the face angle.

In the Lower setting the face is more Open  – Ball goes Right for RH golfer.

In the Higher setting the head is more Closed – Ball goes Left for RH golfer.

• You can have a slightly “Less or More”  Open or Closed position, by using the in between notch settings.
• The Upright position sets the shaft more Upright and creates a more Closed face position.

We would always recommend using this technology, by setting the angle of the head to suit the correct shaft and ball flight requirements.

Yes, it’s fairly complicated but we’ve been adjusting clubs for the best part of 20 years. Previously we would put the heads into a vice and bend them with a big steel bar … now we use a small wrench.

In short, be careful how you interpret what’s written on this Driver as it doesn’t quite do what it says on the tin.
