Siobhan’s clubs were too heavy and had caused a tendon injury.
We took four golfers and fitted them the exact same way Derek and Dave do everyday, except in front of a full camera crew. If you want to be a better golfer then you need clubs that are not only custom fitted but also built by ForeGolf to exact measurements in our WorkShop – just like Siobhan.
Here’s why Siobhan wanted to be involved, what difficulty she had with her current clubs and how we made her a better golfer.
What happened during her session
Siobhan had a tendon injury and we fixed that as well as her distance off the tee.
When Siobhan booked in she told us she suffered with tendinitis or “golfers-elbow“ in her right arm. Once we weighed her irons, we quickly found out that they were far too heavy for her frame size and swing style. As the head was too heavy for her to control, it would crash into the ground before the ball, take a big divot and cause vibration through the shaft.
Her clubs were a little old and what she needed was to switch to newer, lighter technology in shafts and head design to solve her problems. She also struggled with distance and accuracy off the tee and we had a plan for that also.
What we built her to make her a better golfer
So first the tendinitis, we lightened that shaft from her current 72 grams to 50 grams in Ladies flex with a very soft tip and used a lighter weighted iron head to create a lighter feel and better balance for her. The ball flight with the irons was crisper and much easier to get the ball in the air. We introduced two hybrid or rescue clubs that were also 50 grams in weight and the difference for Siobhan was unbelievable. Not only did she hit the ball better and with more accuracy but this newer, lighter weight meant she felt no discomfort in her elbow when she hit the ball.
We wanted Siobhan to move to the new adjustable drivers from Taylor Made and made her new driver 10.5* in loft to get a lower more penetrating ball flight and closed the head 2* to reduce the side spin or shot to the right. We used a very lightweight shaft from Oban that is 45 grams and as if by magic the ball went much straighter and longer. She said that it felt great as it was now a much better balance weight for her. As the new club was now much better for her in weight and she felt no pain she could swing at it harder and the ball flight was a lot better.
First, fix the person with the right club and technology …. then the ball flight will look after itself.

We’ll be sharing the full story of each of the golfers over the coming weeks.
