I bet you never thought we would be writing about hitting the ball too far, as being a problem.
With the latest Rocketballz from TaylorMade Golf, we have noticed a whole new issue for golfers and problems with correct loft selection and yardage gapping.
The new TaylorMade RocketBallz or RBZ in the fairway woods and rescues have a new hot face. There are currently no R+A or USGA rules on “face thickness limits” for fairway woods or hybrid clubs. Therefore with this new club design in the RBZ and Adams Woods, golfers are noticing a huge distance gain from this new fast face technology.
So where’s the problem ?
Well, in our ClubRoom some of our new 3 Woods are going almost as far as Drivers and some of our custom shafted Hybrid Clubs are going as far 3 and 5 woods. So if a golfer has not been correctly fitted for yardage gaps they will have huge problems at the longer Iron end of their game and will notice huge gaps appearing in their yardages.
It’s become a real art form at ForeGolf to make sure our clients are getting the right loft and set up for these new long distance clubs. We’ve also introduced a whole new range of shafts, so if needed, we can help the golfer spin the ball a little more. This allows the ball to come down softer. As a Clubmaker, you have to know when less emphasis on distance and more focus on better spin control, will give better yardage control.
In our WorkShop, we focus our club build on getting the correct distance for each club. It means in most cases, our golfers need fewer clubs in the bag. As long as we cover the yardages, our golfers are properly equipped to deal with every distance and shot scenario.
