4 Pros and Cons for the new Taylor Made JetSpeed

TaylorMade Jet Speed, new for 2014. With the unparalleled speed and distance success of RBZ and RBZ Stage 2 can TaylorMade really make the ball go any faster and further?

Pros:

• The new Speed Pocket on the driver does make the ball feel like it comes off  fast and works well in the fway and rescue delivering similar speeds as before.
• The new polymer covered pocket is better this year as it stops the dirt from gathering in it during play.
• The new lower and further forward centre of gravity makes the ball flight come off much better and lower than the last Tour model.
• The white heads are gone and have been replaced by a new matt black/grey finish.

Cons:

• If you got fitted, bought and are playing RBZ and RBZ Stage 2 fway woods and rescues then there is no need to switch up to these. The only major difference is colour.
• The heads are a little expensive in the fway wood and rescue given there is no adjust ability with prices set to be RRP €240 for the fway and RRP €220 for the rescue.
• The “Sweet-Spot” is quite low in the face which is great for the fairway woods and rescue but not ideal in the driver.
• With a higher launching flight and lower spin from this new range the right shaft is vital – get it right and these clubs are perfect.

Overview:

It looks like this set of woods is a winner and definitely has a place alongside the SLDR range that we featured last month.

However with this new ball flight from a lower and more forward centre of gravity, the right shaft and how it delivers the head to the ball, has never been so important.

This new design and technology alone will not hit the ball better but rather it’s how it’s applied to the golfer through the custom built shaft that will determine its ultimate success.
