Why the Feel of the Club is as Important as the Flex

A Tour player once told me that if the club didn’t feel right it would never play right.

The Feel of the Club is intrinsically linked to your fast twitch muscles and therefore is linked to your rhythm and swing tempo.  Get the balance or feel of the club wrong and it will be harder (if not impossible) to find a smooth natural swing with it.

• We know that if the club is balanced correctly then it teaches you how to swing the club better.

• If you like the club and how it balances and it responds better and makes the ball file straighter and longer then you learn how to swing it is way.

• So the right balance of the club, can actually make you a better golfer.

At ForeGolf we always fit for feel first. The feel of the club is how the club is built and is linked to the shaft, it’s weight, torque and flex.  The weight if the head and it’s swingweight and even the weight of the grip are all a part of this complicated process.

The really difficult part of the “feel fitting” is to asses and figure out what feel is to the player?

What is he feeling ?
Is it the weight ?
Is it the flex?
Is it the head weight or the shaft weight or both?

We use a fitting process that is used on Tour to identify feel and how it relates to the player. So, essentially we can take what a golfer feels and relate it to the club and how it needs to be built.  This is why the quality of the build is so important.

Getting the finished built club with the right balance is more important than the fitting of it. This is why we build the clubs in our own workshop, we can guarantee that what has been fitted and built matches exactly.

So if you get the build AND the feel wrong ….. then buying a new club is pointless.
