Playing golf in the summer seems so much easier when all you have to worry about is what level of sunblock to put on? When the wind, rain and cold roll around it can make your golf game that little bit trickier ….
It might sound simple but there are very few waterproof golf bags out there so keep the important stuff safe. Put your wallet, your phone into a zip lock bag. Seal it up tight and place it into the golf bag.
When heavy rain is forecasted (like Noah & the Ark style rain) grab one of the older larger bath towels from home. Stick it into the top of the golf bag, where the club heads are and wrap it around the heads and leave it in there. It will help to absorb the water and keep the clubs dryer for longer. It’s also good for cleaning the clubs when you put them back into the bag. (Remember to wash and dry it afterwards and its ready to go again the following week). It does a better job than the little towel you have hanging off the bag.
If you don’t have some, get them straight away. Even splash out a bit and get some from an outdoor supply store. If they’re waterproof, all the better. You will be amazed how warm and dry they will keep your hands. Warm, happy hands play better golf.
A simple base layer or even thermal long sleeved undershirt will keep cold arms and chest temperatures at bay. Best advice is:
The old reliable wool sweater is one of the best conductors of heat but also one of the poorest for water repellence. The trick with this layer is
The US Army reckons 40-45% of your body heat escapes through the head and as my Granddad used to say “if you want to get ahead get a hat”
