Oban Shafts

About a year ago we had a visit from Victor Afable and Ralph Reichert who wanted us to introduce this new, exciting component to Irish golfers.

Fast forward 12 months, Oban now have 80 Tour players around the world playing the shaft (without being paid). One of those players, Jim Furyk just won the Fed-Ex Cup and picked up a cool $11.3 million dollars with the help of an Oban shaft in his driver. Jim also teed it up in Wales with the Oban Devotion shaft in his driver.

His unique swing still generates a lot of power and his 75 gram X flex shaft manages the energy very well and delivers the club-head to the ball very consistently and makes him one of the most consistent drivers of the ball on Tour and at The Ryder Cup.

What makes the shafts so good
is the quality of the carbon fibre and also they can make very lightweight shafts stiff. They use a very specialized flex code which gives us great variation in the shaft and allows us to build one to fit the golfer perfectly. Their production process is as good as it gets and the consistency of the shaft and its performance is evident in every single shaft. Usually when a shaft gets light the body or wall gets thinner and it is very difficult to have the shaft retain its stiffness. If a lighter weight shaft is used the club-head swings faster and the ball goes further. So now strong golfers can generate more speed and hit the ball further thanks to the Oban shaft.

The guys at Oban have also applied the technology to the different types of golfers from ladies to normal club golfers who want to hit the ball longer and straighter with less effort. Well done Victor and Ralph, you guys sure know how to make shafts.
