TaylorMade R1 Driver, how to avoid getting it wrong

How to know if the settings and shaft are wrong.

During testing of the new R1 driver from Taylor Made, we found that the standard shaft and the new hosel were hitting the ball very high. If the shot is too high, the distance can be very short and then if the wind blows …

So if you do hit the ball high, we found the way to get it to go low.

• First set the dial on the bottom to the Draw/ #3 setting.
• Put the large weight into the toe side and the light weight into the heel.
• Twist the loft setting to 8*/9*
• We found two of the best shafts were the Miyazaki Kusala Indigo 56 X Flex and the Aldila RIP Alpha 60 X.
• Both these shafts were hitting the ball 280 yards on average from a 158 mph ball speed with a launch angle of 10* and a spin of 2700.
• Get the setting right on this fantastic driver and hit it lower but get the shaft right and hit it miles.
